Amy Cummings

Amy is an artist based in South Wales whose abstract artwork includes paintings, murals, digital illustrations and animations. Her work consists of vibrant and contrasting colours, bold shapes, textures and intricate patterns. She draws inspiration from her everyday experiences and surroundings, such as train journeys to work, photos taken whilst travelling, nature, the seasons, architecture, moods and emotions, and music.

Her interest in street art stems from a passion for bringing colour into dull spaces and the positive impact that public art can have on people’s mood, bringing joy into their day to day lives. Through her artwork she seeks to explore ideas such as the connection between art and mental health, and how art can bring joy, connection and a feeling of shared human experience to the viewer.

Amy uses imagery from her surroundings to influence her art, combining it with different shapes, colours and patterns that reflect the feeling or theme she is inspired by. This can be photos taken from her phone when she’s out and about or photos taken on her travels. She has developed patterns and designs over the years that recur in her work, such as circles, stripes, graffiti, and clouds.
