Caroline Higgins

Bristol artist Caroline Higgins paints in oil on canvas, and at mural scale. Somewhere between portraiture and social observation, her work takes strangers as its subject, figures and groups drawn from found imagery. Her work explores how identity is constructed through the objects we surround ourselves with, the spaces we inhabit, and the ways we choose to be seen. Working with colour pushed beyond what the source allows, these signals are given new weight. Asking the question, what do we share with people we will never know?
