George Henry Rowe
George Henry Rowe is an emerging abstract artist and technologist. He explores the relationship between humans, machines and the environment through paintings, interactive and light installations, and other wall based media. He is interested in the harmonies and the tensions created between the digital and physical in our modern lives, creating compositions influenced by still life, memories and cultural artifacts.
As a painter, George’s work often features repeating patterns and bold shapes, which then are realised through the thick layers of paint and printing pigments. He uses custom built digital and physical tools to create intricate layered lines, influenced by mathematical concepts, and combines them with traditional techniques. The focus is not on the technology but the human intention, the affordances of physical creation, and how this interacts with the digital. He is fascinated in how the perfection of code created work is then made imperfect and therefore more compelling when it becomes physicalised through analogue processes.
