Sarah-Jane McCarthy

Sarah-Jane is a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator exploring outcomes in Drawing, Murals and Moving Image. Their work is often figurative, and explores themes of Women hood, feminism, gender identity, sexuality and mental health, which stems from their own lived experiences.

Their approach to creativity is playful and curious, as process is the most important part of making, the outcome being secondary. With SJ’s larger scale pieces, there is space for performance and expression, this comes out in Sarah-Jane’s Mural work too, but the murals allow for more thought out processes and precision. Sarah-Jane is working towards developing her skills in Mural design, and looking to push their practice with a more humorous and witty approach, including their colour palette and bold lines too, with a drive to be part of bigger projects and bigger opportunities.
