Zaka

Zaka is a french artist based in Bristol since 2015.
Self taught, she has progressively chosen graphite and charcoal for their abilities to create textured drawings, balancing soft rendings and hard contrasts. She occasionnaly picks up a fineliner pen for their deep blacks and clean finish.
The result is often touched up and manipulated digitally to add color or effect, sometimes used the same way as a paper collage, obviously artificial but nonetheless evocative.
Topics often come from internal struggles and how they manifest in the outside world, sometimes in the form of an unusual hairstyle or an odd wallpaper surrounding the character, in a realistic style with a surreal touch
