Cameron Iona
Cameron Iona is a mixed-media artist whose studies in philosophy shape how she sees the world, specifically phenomenology, the study of our embodied lived experience. Inspired by her travels across Europe and the colours of Bristol, she is fascinated by the idea of the Umwelt: the unique, private reality that every individual inhabits. To Cameron Iona, art is a vital attempt to bridge these separate worlds, offering a way to communicate even though we can never truly know exactly what another person experiences.
She finds inspiration in everyday moments that are often overlooked, using vibrant colour, historical papers, and distorted perspectives to showcase the beauty in the ordinary. These textures and materials aren’t just decorative – they are tactile clues designed to make the viewer feel as though they are stepping through someone else’s eyes.
