The Hass

Hasan Kamil (b.1990) also known as HASS was born in Swansea, Wales, now residing in Bristol Where he received a BA (Hons) In Graphic Design. His prime passion was skateboarding and later through exploring local spots and traveling discovered graffiti, a passion that equally consumed his focus.

Previously a designer for one of the UK’s leading distributors of action sports products. Hass was responsible for developing and growing over fourteen separate brands. Specialising in the art direction, branding, product specification, and graphics for a variety of products ranging from skateboards, roller-skates, cruisers, and protection.

Hass continued to devote himself to art, developing his practice and carrying his craftsmanship to a higher level using the resilience and acceptance of failure that skateboarding taught him.

His work primarily took root in graffiti art and the letterform was his first love. Using letters as a foundation he has diversified into large-scale murals, contemporary paintings, and bespoke lettering whilst using his background in design as a fundamental building block behind his projects.

Centering around balance his latest work uses a mixture of mediums to form organic textures and patterns often inspired by his surroundings.

Growing up in a city beside the beach the work often reflects this with a palpable physicality that draws influence from the atmosphere of a gritty working-class town juxtaposed with coastal areas of outstanding natural beauty.

With over 15 years of mural and design experience, Hass has turned his passion for creating into a professional career, working throughout the country and abroad.

Whatever the project may be Hass collaborates closely with some of the UK’s best talents, carefully selecting the appropriate artist from his close team for the job.
