Ella Mia

Ella-Mia is a Bristol-based portrait artist and creator behind Studio Mia, whose work explores identity, femininity and cultural pride through bold, expressive painting, including public art projects such as the Bristol unicorn art trail, where she painted a sculpture inspired by St Paul’s Carnival and the city’s Afro-Caribbean culture.

Her recent work is inspired by Black identity, music and cultural influence, with a strong focus on representation and the celebration of Black culture. Through expressive portraiture, she aims to capture the beauty, presence and power of her subjects using vibrant colour, striking composition and textured mark-making.

Working across both traditional and digital mediums, her style blends fine art portraiture with a contemporary graphic quality.

Alongside her art practice, Ella-Mia works supporting children with social and emotional needs, where art therapy is used as a tool for confidence, expression and wellbeing, something that continues to influence her work.
