Joshila Dhaby

Joshila Dhaby is a Mauritian street artist. Originally working mainly with watercolor Joshila turned to spray paint, enamel paint and acrylic. In addition to painting on canvas, she started painting on walls and metal sheets. She uses a ‘tape and masking processes, stencils and layers to create rich paintings with bold fields of colors. Joshila also creates 3D stencil artwork as installation art. Whereby the stencils become the artwork. The recurrent theme in Joshila’s artwork is sustainable development. Her contemporary work are mostly about the society, the economy and the environment. Her process involves creating conceptual compositions including paint splashes, drips and sprays.
