Phill Newton

A Sheffield based artist who graduated in Fine Art at the University of Derby in 2008. Since graduation has continued to paint and develop his interesting an unique style that combines elements of abstract expressionism, street art, and pop art to create bold, vibrant and dynamic imagery.

Main sources of inspiration include; Graffiti/street art, nostalgia, modern culture, cartoons, comics, graphic novels, video games, music and album covers (particularly heavy metal), fantasy/psychotropic landscapes, vast spaces, geometry and tessellation. Admires the works of Edvard Munch, Hierynamous Bosch, Jean Michel Basquiat, DerekRiggs and Roger Dean.
