Softtwix

Softtwix is a visual artist and photographer who has been working in public space since 2010, creating large-scale portraits that exist at the threshold between reality and illusion. Emerging from deep shadows, her black-and-white faces inhabit architectural spaces with a quiet intensity, engaging viewers in a subtle and disorienting exchange of gazes.

Her work draws on the tension between presence and absence, visibility and mystery. Installed in locations ranging from medieval buildings to abandoned industrial sites, her portraits transform walls into temporary sanctuaries, where the viewer is invited into a suspended, almost sacred encounter.

At first glance, the images appear seamless and immediate, yet their making remains deliberately elusive. Photography, drawing, and material interventions merge into a singular visual language, where technique disappears behind sensation. This absence of visible process reinforces the emotional impact of the work, allowing the image to exist as a self-evident presence.

Through a restrained monochromatic palette, Softtwix explores the human figure with both intimacy and distance, creating spaces of contemplation within the urban landscape. Her work offers a moment of stillness, where the boundaries between observer and observed quietly dissolve.
