Yaratun
Yaratun is a Jordanian/Palestinian street artist based in Austria whose work moves between quiet introspection and a loud presence in public spaces. With a background in illustration and graphic design, her practice draws on personal memory, cultural nuance, and emotional landscapes, translating them into visuals that exist across walls, paper, and digital formats.
Her murals introduce a sense of softness into the rigidity of the urban environment, through fluid lines and anatomies, Arabic typography, candy-like colors, and recurring symbolic figures and icons. Influenced by her Middle Eastern background and experiences across different cities, her work touches on identity, belonging, grief, and resilience.
She has taken part in a range of street art festivals and public art initiatives across the region and internationally, contributing murals and live painting interventions. These include Women on Walls (Cairo, 2015), Baladk (Amman, 2015–2019), and Off the Wall (Munich, 2021), among numerous other festivals and group exhibitions.
